WHAT IS PROSTHODONTICS? Prosthodontics is a branch of dentistry that is concerned with replacement of existing NATURAL TEETH and associated ORAL & FACIAL structures. WHO IS A PROSTHODONTIST? A Prosthodontist is a specialist dentist trained in prosthodontics who understands aesthetics/ cosmetics, biological principles, and maximises function of the artificial teeth by performing several technically complex procedures such as complete dentures, fixed partial denture, implant restorations, and full mouth rehabilitations. WHAT ARE THE TWO TYPES OF RESTORATIONS THAT I CAN GET DONE? Restorations / prosthetic restorations are of two types: fixed restorations and removable restorations. Fixed restoration which is the most preferred and commonly used restoration includes fixed partial dentures, dental implants, tooth overdentures, and implant overdentures. The removable restorations include complete dentures and removable partial dentures.
